So-Not-Perfect
We think of becoming parents knowing that we will at some point mess our kids up. Leave them with our emotional baggage, hurt their feelings, discipline them unfairly, let them listen to terrible music, say a curse word around them that they will repeat.
Then you have all the worries that the outside world will cause irreversible disasters. Broken hearts, ruined friendships, more hurt feelings, the judging public, mean teachers, rude strangers, car accidents, falling off their bikes...
And we still have babies. We still venture into parenthood. They are worth it. The joy is worth it. Watching them be happy and learn the hope of life and relationships... is worth it.
