Our Blessing for Nola on her Baptism Day
Written By Moi
We like plans. We are
both teachers and both look forward to planning parties, events, trips… we even
planned Nate! Nola, however, was our
best kept secret. In Jeremiah 1:5 God
tells us that he knew us before he formed us… and in Nola’s case he kept her a
secret for four more months. There were
so many emotions when we first found out Nola was coming. Desires to bond, fear of being parents of two
children, excitement of what another little Crawford would look like, and
plenty of freak out panic moments.
We are thankful that the Lord kept Nola safe for her first 4
months, as he continue to keeps her safe with a crazy older brother.
Nola we feel so blessed to have you, to know you, and to see
you grow. You have shocked us from the
first moment we knew about you, to the minute you were born pink and blue
eyed.
Our prayer for you is that you would be a woman of
integrity, honesty, laughter, curiosity, and strength. That you would use your
words to encourage, your beauty to inspire love and life, and your mind to
bring hope, peace and truth. Most of
all, that you will know Jesus.
We promise that we will not be perfect parents, but that we
will tell you we’re sorry if we mess up.
We promise to laugh with you, tickle you, and chase you, teach you to do
everything Nate will do… like taking out the trash and riding four
wheelers. We promise to listen to your
secrets and be your worst nightmare when you are 16.
Remember God’s greatest promise.
For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and
this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God— not by works, so that no one
can boast. For we are God’s workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good
works, which God prepared in advance for us to do, Ephesians 2:8-10
We already know how special you are to us Nola, our best
kept secret, now we’ll pray that you will grow in the Lord’s promises.
Our Blessing for Nate on his Baptism Day
If I remember correctly my husband and I wrote this together
Nathaniel, today we want to promise you that we will always
do our best to allow the Lord to use us in your life, that we would point you
to Christ. We will fail, and we will mess up, but we will always do our best to
remind you that you are loved by a powerful Savior who is much greater than us.
Our prayer for you is that you will grow to be a man of God filled with grace,
peace, hope and wisdom. Today we are humbled to be your parent, thankful for
the family and friends who have supported us through this new part of life.
Most of all we are amazed at the ways the Lord already uses you in our lives.
You are the one and only you, fearfully and wonderfully made.
